BASS
Basel Student Survey

The world of work is changing rapidly and so are the skills demanded in the labour market. With this subproject, we conduct repeated surveys to study how students at the University of Basel respond to the changes in demanded skills caused by digitalisation. The objective of this study is to discover causal relationships between students’ beliefs about demanded skill, their educational and career choices as well as their labour market outcomes.

With our first survey, we wanted to learn how students assess their interdisciplinary skills and their importance for labour market success. The aim of the survey is to derive recommendations on how universities can strengthen students' interdisciplinary skills in addition to their subject-specific competences by offering suitable courses that optimally prepare students for the labour market.
